Diocese of Charlotte Curriculum Day Meeting Minutes and Action Plan
MUSIC
Where we are:
  • Not all schools are equitable with budgets, class time allotted for students, music supplies and/or resources
  • Wanting a master resource guide to materials or programs which general music teachers K-5 and K-8 can use in teaching
  • We would like a vehicle for sharing ideas that work, or don’t that correlate with new curriculum

Where we would like to be:
  • Equality of teaching resources on site
  • Library or master resource base to pull from for all music levels
  • More instruments available for students to play (mostly Orff instruments)
  • All teachers should have a complimentary membership to NAFME, a national music educators association
  • Way of sharing information and ideas with other music teachers

ACTION PLAN:
  • Talked about making a FB page for sharing curriculum ideas, programs and lesson plans to be implemented by TAYLOR KLASS @ St. Pius X. This was amended to putting information on the WIKI LINK.
  • Teachers will : connect and network
Share resources
Email each other
To be initiated by Bryan Long HTCMS
  • Acquire a membership to NAFM (national music educators membership)
(not sure how to go about this, Bryon Long will check.
  • Pursue Continuing Education in Music which school or MACS pays for
Ask principals for Dr. Ritter about this

LONG TERM GOAL: to be able to share Lesson Plans with specific curriculum elements with other schools that meet the Essential Standards in Music Education.
